Drip. Drip. Drip.
The sound of water echoed about the cavern. She could hear it. She could sense the pulse of each droplet hitting the earth. The smell of damp rock had invaded her nostrils, and she could dwell on nothing else.

After Sauron was defeated, not long after king Isildur was killed and the ring was lost. Middle-Earth enjoyed a thousand years of peace after this.
